Thaïs has been a Physical Therapist since 2004. She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychobiology at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts in 1999 and completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Boston University in 2004. She has taken numerous opportunities to expand upon her education, including studying manual treatment of the spine in Australia and France, as well as attending frequent seminars and conferences here in the United States.
Prior to starting MOLLET PHYSICAL THERAPY, Thaïs served for 12 years as the head of a Physical Therapy spine clinic, in Sparks. Thaïs has enjoyed a range of professional experiences from working with athletes at the X Games in Aspen and the Olympics in Rio, to helping critically injured patients in the Intensive Care Unit at Renown Medical Center, as well as a providing treatment for diverse orthopedic and spine injuries for local and out of state patients.
Thaïs has been providing physical therapy services for the US Olympic and Paralympic teams since 2014, traveling with the team and preparing the athletes for international competitions. She travelled to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, as Physical Therapist for the USA track cycling team. The team won 2 silver medals. Thaïs most recently traveled to the 202One Olympics Games in Toyko with the road and track cycling teams.
Thaïs is an athlete who lettered in 3 sports in high school; volleyball, basketball, and tennis. She went on to play 4 years of tennis in college. She has continued her active lifestyle in her adult years, participating in numerous half ironman triathlons. Thaïs also spends time skiing, hiking, as well as other outdoor activities that help her enjoy nature with her family and dogs.
As a dedicated member of the Reno/Tahoe community, Thaïs has been involved with High Fives Foundation for over 10 years. High Fives Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves as a safety net for the mountain sports community, providing resources to those who have suffered a life-altering injury. Thaïs has treated High Fives athletes and serves on the Board of Directors as the Therapy Director, providing treatment and guidance to help get the athletes back to the sports and lifestyle they love.
In treating her patients, Thaïs draws upon techniques from Kaltenborn, Evjenth, Maitland, Cook, and Butler schools of thought, tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs of each patient. Thaïs is certified in FMS 1, allowing her to screen patients for movement dysfunction and help recognize movement patterns that support work, sports and daily activities. Thaïs is a preferred provider of the Graston Technique, an instrument assisted soft tissue technique that allows the provider to detect and treat areas of scar tissue or adhesions in the muscles, tendons ,and ligaments that can reduce range of motion and cause pain.
Thaïs' goals with each patient include identifying the approach that will best decrease pain and discomfort and that will increase overall function. She takes pride in empowering her patients to reach their maximum level of function and live life to the fullest.
